Econometrics
EasyReg International -- EasyReg, according to its web site, "conducts various econometric estimation and testing tasks on all 32bitWindows platforms (95/98/2000/XP/NT4), simply by clicking a mouse. EasyReg is designed for empirical research .. and for teaching econometrics."  EasyReg is available at http://econ.la.psu.edu/~hbierens/EASYREG.HTM .

The Econometrics Journal online publishes a list of links to econometrics software on its website. The list includes a brief description of each of the products. The list is a mixture of commercial and free software. It is available at http://www.feweb.vu.nl/econometriclinks/software.html .

Dr. Ray C. Fair of Yale University on his web site provides two econometric models which can be downloaded for use on your own computer. The site at http://fairmodel.econ.yale.edu/main.htm has a US Model and a multi-country model. The site also provides downloads (in pdf format) of articles and books written by Dr. Fair at http://fairmodel.econ.yale.edu/rayfair/worksd.htm .

Environment/Climate Change
Climate Analysis Indicators Tool (CAIT). CAIT is an information and analysis tool on global climate change produced by the World Resources Institute (WRI). CAIT provides a data base of greenhouse gas emissions data and other climate relevant indicators. Country level data is available with some time series starting in 1850. CAIT runs in Excel through the use of macros. It requires Excel 2000 or a more recent version. The software must be downloaded and installed and is available from http://cait.wri.org . The software is free but you have to register before downloading.

Health
EpiInfo (Windows Version) --
Epidemiologists and other public health and medical professionals can rapidly develop a questionnaire or form, customize the data entry process, and enter and analyze data. Epidemiologic statistics, tables, graphs, and maps are produced with simple commands such as READ, FREQ, LIST, TABLES, GRAPH, and MAP. Epi Map displays geographic maps with data from Epi Info. This software provided by the US Center for Disease Control is available at  http://www.cdc.gov/epiinfo/

HIV/AIDS -- UNAIDS provides a number of tools specific to the HIV/AIDS epidemic at http://www.unaids.org/en/resources/epidemiology/epi_softwaretools.asp . These include:

  • an Estimation and Projection Package
  • "The Workbook Method" which is a set of spreadsheets used to estimate and project adult HIV prevalence from surveillance data.
  • SPECTRUM which is a suite of policy models.
