Nairobi Mall

Objective of the Site

The site, which first appeared in 1998 is in the process of being updated.  Broken links have been eliminated, but many web sites have changed in the past year and individual page data will be updated during 2018.  The existing site concentrates on national time series data mainly (but not exclusively) for developing countries provided in large part by international organizations. Recently many new sources of data at the sub-national level have become available and a selection these sites will be included in the revised listings. This revision will also make available data on GIS shapefiles available for developing countries. All sites listed will provide free data. This revision will also update information on open-source software available (including GIS) to access, analyze and process the data. These lists will not be comprehensive. In some cases suggestions will be given on how to use the websites and links may be given to training material. The site has been developed to be of general interest, but particularly useful to governments, businesses and students. The site is designed to make it accessible in low-bandwidth areas in developing countries.
