Industry Data
The World Bank provides limited data on industry. On its Industry page at http://www.worldbank.org/data/databytopic/databytopic.html you can access the most recent data at the country level for the World Development Indicators (WDI) which relate to industry as well as a .pdf report on growth of output for GDP, Agriculture, Industry, Manufacturing and Services by country for two time periods. The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) also prepares industrial statistics. Most of the data is available only on a commercial basis, but UNIDO does provide free a country by country data base with some data (including limited time series data) on industrial performance, manufacturing value added, employment and wages by industry, composition of trade, among others, at http://www.unido.org/Regions.cfm?area=GLO . The data base allows you to select data at the country level. Information on UNIDO's publications and databases including the International Yearbook of Industrial Statistics ($US230.00) and the UNIDO Industrial Statistics Database on CDROM (EUR400 for internal non-commercial use) is available at http://www.unido.org/en/doc/3474 . There is also a link on this page at "Selected Industrial Country Statistics" to the free data described above.
