Crime There are two main sources of international crime statistics with time series available, INTERPOL and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. In both cases the data are available in detail, but are only downloadable in .pdf format, often on a country by country or year by year basis. INTERPOL at http://www.interpol.int provides detailed crime statistics at the country level for its 181 members. Data is provided in .pdf format on a country by country, year by year basis. Data includes information on murder, sex offences, serious assault, theft, fraud, counterfeit currency offences and drugs offences. A warning at http://www.interpol.int/Public/Statistics/ICS/default.asp warns that data cannot be used for comparison between different countries because of different legal definitions, different statistical methods and "changes may occur during the reference period affecting the data collected. The .pdf format reports can be downloaded from http://www.interpol.int/Public/Statistics/ICS/downloadList.asp . The United Nations Office on Crimes and Drugs at www.unodc.org also makes its data available only in .pdf format. The United Nations Surveys on Crime Trends and the Operations of Criminal Justice Systems Data as well as links to Total Recorded Crime are available at http://www.unodc.org/unodc/en/crime_cicp_surveys.html. The UNOCD also provides data on Global Illicit Drug Trends. Links to its annual Global Illicit Drug Trends annual reports in .pdf format as well as links to other reports on drug issues are available at http://www.unodc.org/unodc/en/research.html .
